Abstract Note
Patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMD) have an increased risk of fracture (FxR). Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) is a non-inflammatory disease characterized by calcification and ossification of ligaments and joints and is associated with an increased risk of vertebral fractures. However, bone mineral density (BMD) measured by DXA is falsely increased by DISH-related changes. Trabecular bone score (TBS) is less affected by calcifications and degenerative changes. This study investigates whether TBS can improve FxR estimation in patients with RMD and DISH.
