Abstract Note
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) show osteoporotic vertebrae deformities (OVD) despite their BMD values corresponding to the age norm. In this study, the authors aimed to evaluate if qualitative changes in bone tissue are taking place in these patients using TBS. They observed that their TBS values were significantly lower in patients with T1DM with OVD, concluding that the use of TBS in clinical practice may improve fracture prediction in T1DM patients.
